Going for Walks

We’ve lived in our house for nearly four years. The property contains an acre of land. The small community and large lot are what drew us to this location. The housing development is quiet and our neighbors are nice. Our toddler daughter Jessie loves to go outside and run around the large backyard. She has plenty of room to run. Unfortunately, she likes to run to the neighbors’ houses. The neighbors who have children have very interesting things in their yards. These things are particularly interesting to our toddler. She is especially obsessed with the battery-operated John Deere ride-on truck … Continue reading

Baby Blog Month in Review: July 2008

Two of my three children are summer babies. That is, they were born in the summer and had their first months surrounded by sunshine streaming in the windows, the sound of birds chirping, and days spent wearing nothing but a diaper and a “onsie.” I made sure that they had Fourth of July outfits ready, even though one of them arrived a week after the holiday. I guess he just wasn’t interested in the parade. Do you have a summer baby, too? We had a lot of new information to share this past month, such as recall notices and new … Continue reading

Baby Blog Week in Review: July 7th Through July 13th

With babies, there is always something new every day. My little one turned two-years-old today. It is hard to believe that this energetic toddler started out as a fragile newborn who came into the world already charming everyone in the delivery room with his big eyes, long toes and the ability to accurately wet two nurses and one doctor when he was less than a minute old. Because of all of the changes, it is important to keep up with the latest news. July 7th Baby Blog Week in Review: June 30th Through July 6th Summer time is so much … Continue reading

Dealing with the Emotions of Going BACK to Court

Unfortunately, spending time in court can be part of the experience of many single parents. Some of us get off easily with simple divorce proceedings while others of us may have on-going custody battles or have to work things out in front of a judge because they cannot be worked out in any other way. When we think we have finished with the court appearances and court battles, however, and we suddenly find ourselves BACK in front of a judge, it can be disheartening, stressful and emotional. Years may have passed since you were in a courtroom and suddenly you … Continue reading

The Pets Blog Week in Review for Sep 10-16

If you missed any of the Pets Blog last week you’ve clicked the right place to catch up. Here’s what Aimee and I wrote on: Monday, September 10 I related the big fun Murph has with his flying monkey. (Nope, they’re not just for Dorothy and Toto to play with anymore.) Oh what a tangled web we weave…when we walk our dogs? Well, when Aimee walks her dogs. She becomes the Amazing Spider Head! And because of her encounters, it got her to wondering about poisonous spiders. Best to know what they look like in case she comes across them. … Continue reading

Going Wild In Miami

Miami, Florida is a wild place to be no matter what time of year you visit. And, I’m not referring to the late night parties in South Beach. I’m talking about the Java macaques, capuchins, gibbons, and spider monkeys that call the tropical locale home. They are the wild ones your children will want to get up close and personal with on your trip to the sunny city. If you have animal-loving children here’s where you want to take them the next time you are in Miami: Miami Metrozoo Located 20 minutes southwest of Miami International Airport, the zoo is … Continue reading

Free At Last—Paris Walks

While most of us were nestled in bed (please don’t tell me you stayed up to watch it unfold), one of the country’s most talked about jailbirds took flight shortly after midnight Pacific Time. Paris Hilton is once again a free woman. With a huge grin plastered on her face the hotel heiress strolled out of jail and into her mother’s arms. The 26-year-old party princess was dressed down in an olive jacket, white shirt, tight jeans, and her hair was pulled back in a braided ponytail (reminiscent of her days on the farm during the first season of her … Continue reading

Where is our Fitness Blog Week in Review?

Unfortunately, the craziness this week precluded a lot of fitness articles to cover for the fitness blog. We did take a look at exercise styles, but this week just didn’t lend itself to focusing on fitness as much as I would like. What Did We Do? My daughter and I did two miles per day on our bikes. We also went out for a couple of long walks. They celebrated field day on Monday and water slide day on Wednesday. She came home from school pretty tired, but excited at the same time. We spent one afternoon planning what we’re … Continue reading

The Fitness Blog Week in Review for April 14-20

It’s that time of the week and we’re going to take the time to review the week’s articles. It’s been a crazy week and I have some new stories to share for next week, including the fact that I picked up a new bike this weekend! I was fortunate enough to discover one that a friend wanted to sell at a garage sale and instead of being out a hundred for a new bike; I picked it up for just $15! I love a good bargain that lets me pursue my fitness ideals. In the meanwhile, here is our week … Continue reading
