Indoor Safari Park

Jessie and I had stopped going to play places for a long time because it wasn’t fair to Emily. When Emily was a baby we could leave her in her Chicco Keyfit on the floor. When Emily got a little bigger we could put her in a high chair. It was easy. I could watch Jessie play and sit with Emily. When Emily became a mover and started crawling, she didn’t want to sit patiently in a high chair anymore; she wanted to get up and play. I wasn’t comfortable letting Emily down to crawl around because while the places … Continue reading

Summer Theme Park Review: Splashes and Screams

I must admit, even though I grew up frolicking on Hawaii’s powder soft sand beaches and surfing in the state’s cobalt blue waters, as a kid I would have given my right foot to visit a water park on the mainland. Luckily my parents obliged every few summers (and I didn’t have to lose an appendage) and to this day I still consider those trips some of the best moments of my childhood. Water parks have come a long way since I was a kid… and they keep getting bigger and better each year. Take a look at the wet … Continue reading

The Nation’s Best Amusement Park

The votes are in and the winner of the best amusement park in the country is… Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio. The popular thrill ride park was named the best of the best by readers of Amusement Today. Each year the trade publication surveys hundreds of amusement park guests and uses their feedback to determine the winners of its Golden Ticket Awards competition. This year there were few surprises. Cedar Point won the best park award again—-as it has every year since the awards began. (To read my review of the park, click here.) It probably didn’t hurt … Continue reading

A Day at the Zoo Part I

We have a zoo in our city. It is not a big zoo by any means, but it does have more than enough animals to entertain a toddler. I am not a particular fan of animals; I remember going to this same zoo as a child and being scared to death especially by the goats in the petting part of the zoo. The cost of admission to this zoo is more than a movie ticket (something my husband and I never spend money on). Thanks to my very generous in-laws, we have a year long family pass to the zoo … Continue reading

Ready for Springtime

I’m sure that I am not the only parent out there who is eager for the snow to melt away and the temperatures to rise. While there are many wonderful things to do indoors during the colder months, I am looking forward to being able to go outside with Dylan more often. Today, we got a taste of springtime and it has me ready for more. Throughout the winter I have tried to ensure that Dylan gets to spend time outdoors on a regular basis. He loves to be outside, especially if it involves digging in the snow. Of course, … Continue reading

As long as you don’t fly American Airlines. All kidding aside news on the travel front has been anything but encouraging this week.
