E’s First Birthday Party

I knew that Baby E’s birthday was coming. It really should not have been any kind of a surprise that Baby E was going to be one. I just wasn’t so sure how I wanted to ring in the day. I knew I wanted to celebrate with her; I didn’t know how big of a celebration I wanted to have. All of E’s grandparents were planning to visit to help her change from baby to toddler status. Grammy and Papa were arriving the Tuesday before her birthday and Grandma and Grandpa were coming after. The kids, Daddy, and I were … Continue reading

Planning the Toddler’s Birthday Party, Part 2

Jessie’s birthday is coming. Where has the time gone? Jessie is going to be three. She’s tall and looks so grown up. My toddler won’t be a toddler much longer. May I stop time? I thought of a lot of different places to have a birthday party for her. If I had her party outside our house, then I wouldn’t have to worry about cleaning for the party or cleaning up after. That was very enticing, but I couldn’t decide on a location and I wanted to have food. Chuck E Cheese’s has tasty pizza and all people could eat, … Continue reading

Planning the Toddler’s Birthday Party

My daughter’s birthday is coming up. I have been thinking about this for months now. I want to do something different and fun because she’s getting bigger. Jessie’s birthday is in the middle of November and there’s no telling what the Texas weather will do. Last year it wasn’t cold, but it was raining. We’re in the middle of October now and the temps are still in the 80s. In the next month the weather can stay this way or plummet completely. I have to take the weather into consideration when thinking about what to do for Jessie’s big day. … Continue reading

Pizza

Jessie has become obsessed with pizza. I don’t know when it happened; I think it was at Wesley’s fifth birthday party. Wesley lives down the street. His sister Charleigh is a few weeks older than Jessie and their cousin’s birthday is the day after Jess’s. Wesley’s birthday was fun with friends and toys and a bounce house. Jessie chose her own outfit, which was much too hot for the day, and ended up running around in a diaper when I thought she’d pass out from heat. Thankfully she allowed me to dress her in the cooler outfit I brought for … Continue reading

Friend’s Party

Over the weekend we went to my friend’s son’s birthday party. Stephan was turning six and my how this boy has grown. Jessie spent a great deal of her first birthday party staring adoringly at Stephan and the two even kissed. They don’t feel the same love for each other anymore. They probably don’t even remember each other that way. Saturday started out as a busy day before we even got to the party. The girls and I went to my other friend’s house for fairy pictures. Carey Lynn Photography teamed up with Born4Couture to do fairy pictures with little … Continue reading

Toddler’s First Birthday

One of my daughter’s young friends officially entered toddler-dom. Today my daughter and I went to our friends’ house to celebrate their youngest turning one. The venue was perfect for the seven toddlers in attendance. The bounce house should have been a big hit, but the toddler pool and sprinkler held far more amusement. I couldn’t help but remember my daughter’s first birthday party. Jessie joined our family two months before her first birthday. We invited all of our friends over to the house and ate pizza. All the children played together with Jessie’s toys. Jessie and a friend’s three-year-old … Continue reading

Make Learning Fun for Toddlers

With older kids back in school, now is a great time to bond with your toddler. However, instead of simply reading books or singing songs, mix-up your routine by adding these fun and educational activities that your toddler will love to play over and over: EGG MATCH Materials: 12 plastic Easter eggs Glue Egg carton Directions: Use leftover plastic eggs from Easter (about one dozen) making sure that you have at least five different colors. Glue or tape the two parts of each egg together. Encourage your child to sort the eggs by color and place them into the carton. … Continue reading

Toddler Pizza Party

My preschooler loves pizza, but as a toddler she wasn’t that into chowing down on crunchy dough topped with whatever veggies I could sneak under melted cheese. Still, she loved the idea of eating with her hands (it was the taste of the pizza she despised) and happily created her own fake Italian pies in her play kitchen. Whether your toddler devours pizza by the slice or she refuses to touch it with a ten-foot pole, she’ll have a ball partaking in the following simple, age appropriate pizza-related activities: PIZZA ART An unused pizza pan can act as a great … Continue reading

Spending for a toddler party!

My daughter’s birthday is today. She is three years old. (How did that happen?) When I first started planning her party I wanted to only invite a few other children, so we could keep it low budget low key. It didn’t work out that way. First I have to invite my friends with young children, then I had to invite her friends, then the kid from church and the boy from my gym and well, before I could sing Happy Birthday, I’d invited eight children and their parents and well, I’ve got thirty people coming now including adults and children. … Continue reading
